Sedona’s Spring Gem and Jewelry Show

Owner Malia Johnson and Washington State’s Deidre Berg have procured a fabulous shipment of new jewelry and high vibrational stone pieces direct from the major Tuscon Gem and Mineral Show. Deidre will also bring some spectacular museum quality Lawrence Stoller Russian Quartz pieces from a private collection.

The Sugilite (top left) are some of the most beautiful specimens that will be at our Show. The Sugilite mine in South Africa has closed recently so now is the time to add Sugilite to your collection as we do not know how much remains in the hands of dealers. Sugilite helps to reduce stress that is caused by illness, but its energies are also used to increase psychic awareness due to its deep violet hue. It is excellent for meditation and brings wisdom and balance. The raw piece is priced at $275 and the polished is $258. Deidre will be conducting a hands-on Crystal Workshop to show you how to use some special crystals to help calm your emotions and bring about a state of peace. She will lead a discussion about how to let go of your fears and illusions so that you can move forward with greater clarity. She will bring stones you can work with energetically to help you achieve inner peace and harmony. She will highlight at least 16 different stones with an emphasis and focus on Himalayan special quartz with green phantoms and rutiles, Himalayan pink quartz, Ajoite and Morganite.

The Morganite (left) is wonderful for rekindling love and passions and supporting your emotional healing. It is a very nurturing stone to assist  you through difficult times. The ocean-like translucent blue Ajoite wand (middle) is a loving and harmonious stone. The Himalayan Green Phantom Quartz (right)  is one of the most peaceful and loving stones that Deidre has ever felt. Preview of what we will have at the Show– Amazing Ruby in Zoisite, Rutilated Quartz and Nuumite

There will be a nice selection of  beautiful Ruby in Zoisite (left). Ruby in Zoisite, also called Anyolite, is used to enhance creativity for individuals who want to fully express their own ideas and desires. It helps people by bringing their talents to the forefront and increasing the abilities of the mind to bring in wisdom. The Ruby within the stone is very spiritually grounding.  The large piece is priced at $1200 and the cute little heart resting upon it is just $38. We have many specimens priced from $30 to the unique Ruby in Zoisite pyramid which is $68.

The Rutilated Quartz (middle) is a very powerful healing and highly energetic stone. It can be used to direct energy flow within the body or to other crystals. The gold Rutiles stand out strikingly in the Quartz that hosts it. The beautiful large sphere is priced at $480 and the pendants and tumbled pieces are priced at $22 and up.

Nuumite (right) is the oldest mineral in the world from Greenland- formed over 3 billion years ago. Tucson Finds and Highlights from owner Malia

At Sedona, we have had some requests for some Native American made silver jewelry so we brought back beautiful earrings, bracelets, pendants and necklaces set with highly sought after Sleeping Beauty and Castle Dome Turquoise (mine is now closed). Turquoise is a stone used for protection against negativity and danger, especially during travel. This stone sustains health and speeds the healing process. It also brings joy, happiness and emotional balance, as well as beauty, generosity and courage. Pictured to the right are some of the gorgeous raspberry colored Rhodochrosite that is also Native American made.   Rhodochrosite inspires passion and confidence, as well as attracts love into your life. This stone also helps heal emotional distress with unconditional love.

We also brought back a large shipment of Native American made Dreamcatchers in a rainbow of colors and sizes.

Tucson Highlights:  

New Stones:  A new stone that we have never had before is called Auralite 23.  It is more than 1.2 billion years old. It is suggested that meteoric strikes in the Boreal Forest region in Canada contributed to some of the rare metallic ores that are infused in Auralite 23. It is primarily Amethyst in structure and typically comprises of 17 – 23 different stones and minerals such as Titanite, Cacoxenite, Lepidocrosite, Ajoite, Hematite, Magnetite, Pyrite, Goethite, Pyrolusite, Gold, Silver, Platinum, Nickel,  Copper, Iron, Limonite, Sphalerite, Covellite, Chalcopyrite, Gialite, Epidote, Bornite and  Rutile. Auralite 23 is an excellent stone for purification and cleansing of energy, helping to remove blockages and negativity. It can also help one to understand one’s life destiny and true spiritual purpose and strengthens one’s connection with Spirit Guides and Guardian Spirits. We have some beautiful beaded bracelets and also some polished slices in Auralite 23.

Many special requests:  We had many, many requests for Super Seven (left) set in jewelry.  It is a rare stone so we have to search high and low in Tucson to bring you back a nice selection in Beaded Bracelets, Earrings, Lockets and Pendants. Super Seven is a very high vibration stone because it contains a combination of seven different minerals including Amethyst, Cacoxenite, Quartz, Goethite, Lepidocrocite, Rutile and Smokey Quartz. It is used for cleansing and re-energizing of other stones, and is excellent for healing, balancing and energizing the body, mind and spirit. It can also be used for increasing spiritual and psychic abilities.

One of a kind museum specimen:  Must see this translucent cornucopia shaped Apophyllite specimen. It looks like a crystal geode but up close you can see it has hundreds of small clear Apophyllite pyramids covering the whole specimen. The dealer/miner said they have only had 3 of these pieces in all the years that they have been selling Apophyllite and the one that Malia bought was the largest! You can cleanse and charge your jewelry inside this museum quality geode.

For a number of these items, we brought back some small spheres for the collector who wants to add a new stone to their collection.

What’s Happening at Sedona & Ward Centers!

Sedona Holiday:  Most of the stores at Ward Centers including Sedona will be CLOSED on Easter Sunday, March 31st; however many of the restaurants will be OPEN for Easter.

Sedona Psychic Readings:  Darrell Harada will be traveling to Japan from March 19th through April 5th. FEBRUARY 10, 2013

February 4, 2013 is first day of Spring and the Chinese New Year of the Water Snake begins on February 10, 2013. It is best to complete the cleaning of your home, the cleansing and placing of your reusable Feng Shui remedies by the end of January. Now is the time to replace your older Feng Shui remedies if they look worn, faded or damaged. If your Flying Star luck is not favorable this year; Feng Shui Masters recommend that you purchase some new Feng Shui remedies for stronger protection. To refresh your Feng Shui items you should clean and polish them and then cleanse them with sage or incense before placing them in the new sector.

The energies for 2013 are extremely strong because the zodiac signs fly back to their original sector with the same element so the energies are compounded. In 2013 the heavenly element is Yin Water and the Earthly Element is Yang Fire.  These 2 elements create a yin and yang affect so they are more balanced than last 2 years where the water element was weak. 2013 should be a more peaceful year and the economy should see growth.

For All Zodiac signs in 2013:

Every year the Tai Sui energy moves to the sector with the same zodiac sign for the year.  In 2013, the Tai Sui is in the area of the Snake or the Southeast Sector in the Flying Star Chart.  Clean your old Pi Chu/Pi Yao (celestial protector from heaven) or purchase a new Pi Chu/Pi Yao then place it high up facing the door in the SE Sector of your home to ease the (Tai Sui) for this year. This year there is a no renovation, no digging or loud banging rule in the entire Eastern quadrant of your home (3 Killings and Tai Sui) and also in the Northwest quadrant (facing Tai Sui) of your home.

Victory Star #1 brings success, career and fame. Place a Koi Fish in the shape of an 8, Dragon Turtle, Hotei with Ru Yi in the direction of the North to enhance the energy of this victory star. Lucky Colors: Blue, Silver, Gold, White or Gray.

Avoid Yellow and Brown in this direction.

To deflect the energy from Illness Star #2 display a large Metal Hu Lu, Golden Kuan Yin or Brass Bell in the SW sector of your bedroom or living room. If you can move your bed away from this direction it would be better for you, otherwise you need to take extra care and also carry a Hu Lu Jade Charm with you. Lucky Colors: Gold, Silver, White. Avoid Red, Pink, Orange, Purple and Yellow.

To avoid misunderstandings because of Quarrelsome Star # 3;  place 3 L.E.D. pink Lotus lights or Fireball in the East direction of your living room, office or bedroom to soften angry and impatient energy of this argumentative star.

Lucky Colors:  Red, Pink, Purple and Orange.  Avoid Green and Blue in this area.

Scholastic Star #4– place a green Scholastic Pagoda, Crystal Point and blue wavy vase with 4 pieces of lucky bamboo in the Southeast direction to help with scholastic and academic pursuits. For people pursuing studies, carry a pagoda Jade charm or natural Crystal Point to help with focus and concentration. For single people interested in more romantic relationships display rose quartz or jade mandarin Ducks in the Southeast. Lucky Colors:  Green, Blue, Black.  Avoid:  Silver, White, Gold.

This is for all Zodiac Signs this year: Display 5 Element Pagoda and brass bell or singing bowl/handbell in the Center of your home to ease the energy of the Misfortune Star #5 which can cause accidents, loss and mishaps. The energy is considered strong for everyone because it is in the middle of all homes and the element is doubled. Reduce the heat and remove red colored items especially if the kitchen, bedroom or living room is in the middle of home. Lucky Colors:  White, Gold, Silver.  Avoid Red, Orange, Purple, Pink and Yellow.

Authority Star #6 brings power, mentor luck and authority to the Northwest sector of your home. To energize this star place an image of Guan Gong and Dragon/Turtle in the Northwest sector of your home. Lucky Colors:  Silver, Gold, Yellow, White.  Avoid: Red, Orange, Pink, Purple.

To suppress the Robbery Star #7, place a large bowl of still water and blue rhino and elephant in the West direction of your home. If you have a door that you frequently open in the West you need to be more careful because this adds to the energy of this star.  Lucky Colors:  Blue, Gray, Black.  Avoid Silver, Gold White, Yellow.

The luckiest Wealth Star #8 flies in the direction of NE in 2013; to take advantage of this auspicious energy display a larger Amethyst Geode, 8 pieces of Semi-precious Stones, Coins or Ingots in the Northeast Sector of your Home or office. If you want to enhance your wealth luck between 2004 and 2023 – carry a Jade “8” Lucky Charm. Lucky Colors:  Yellow, Red.  Avoid Green.

Purple Star #9 – place 2 pink L.E. D. lotus lights or pair of pink mandarin ducks in the South direction of your home to enhance marriage, birth, future luck, career and happy relationships. Lucky Colors:  Red, Pink, Green.  Avoid Blue, Black and Gray.

Psychic Readers on a short Holiday

LABRADORITE FROM MADAGASCAR

These Madagascar Labradorite pendants are hand-carved by skilled artisans in China and exhibit beautiful gradation of colors from gold to green to teal blue. These Grade AAA gem quality Labradorite pieces have a blend of three distinct colors radiating from different angles in the light. The colors are spectacular in the sunlight.  Bob and Debbie from Go Jolly added 14k gold bails, accent cabochons and beads so that you can wear them with a chain, on a cord or a beaded necklace. Labradorite Properties:

Labradorite is a mystical and highly protective stone and is often called a stone of transformation. It can be used to enhance intuition and psychic abilities. It is often worn for banishing fears and for protection against negative energy. Labradorite calms an overactive mind which can lead to a reduction in stress and anxiety. It can be a good stone to have with you during times of change to strengthen perseverance and understanding. Finally, it is a good stone to restore forgotten memories while enhancing imagination and creativity to inspire new ideas.

Labradorite/Spectrolite Facts:

Labradorite was first found in 1770 in Labrador Peninsula located in eastern Canada. Today, it can also be found in Italy, Greenland, Finland, Madagascar, Russia and Scandinavia. Labradorite is in the feldspar family and is closely related to Moonstone. This stone gives off what is called the “Schiller” Effect, which is a rich display of several different colors. According to the Smithsonian Rock and Gem book, “The schiller effect is caused by the scattering of light from thin layers of a second feldspar that develops through internal chemical separation during the cooling of what was originally a single feldspar.”

A Family Fun Project

You are getting this month’s Newsletter a little late because we have been really busy unpacking more than 40 boxes that we just shipped in from the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show earlier this month. Our jewelry cases have all been re-merchandised and beautiful new designer jewelry and 14K gold jewelry are being put in the cases daily. We are so excited to introduce you to some powerful new stones that we have never had in the store.

Please note that the Sedona Gem and Jewelry Show is a week earlier this year because St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday and we didn’t want to interfere with anyone’s party.

Our Very Important Buyer (VIB) Preview Show starts on Friday afternoon, March 9^th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. At the Preview Show, you get to be the first to see the newest stones and jewelry pieces as we unpack them. The Gem and Jewelry Show continues on Saturday, March 10^th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A part of the proceeds from our Gem and Jewelry Show will be donated to The Hawaii Foodbank.

Special Gratitude Tokens will be given to customers who spend $150.00 or more at our Gem Show (while supplies last).  You can choose to keep your special token or you can return the token to us in April 2012 and you’ll receive 20% off your entire purchase of regular priced merchandise.

If you want to avoid the crowds, the busiest times for The Show are usually from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening; from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.  The quietest times, if you want to have a little more space to be with the crystals are from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

One of the best ways to see and feel some of the special high vibrational stones is to come to Deidre’s Free Crystal Workshop on Wednesday March 7^th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The class theme is “Spring into Action,” it’s a hands-on workshop where you will have the opportunity to work with the newest crystals that Deidre has brought in for the Show.  She will teach you how you can use your crystals to energize and motivate yourself to achieve your goals. I was lucky, the weather in Tucson this year was a balmy 70 degrees in the day and low 40′s in the evenings which is a lot better than the frigid 7 degrees and the freak ice storm they had last year. The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is a place where people from all over the world who deal in gemstones, minerals, fossils and jewelry gather each year in late January/early February. It is considered the biggest and best Gem Show in the world because of the sheer number of buyers and  sellers who congregate there.  The show is about a month long and comprises of over 35 different show sites that are spread out all over the city of Tucson.  Just imagine humongous tents that are larger than football stadiums and convention halls filled with thousands of vendors. There are dozens of  hotels where all the rooms are filled with  purveyors of gemstones and jewelry from lower priced fashion pieces to high end diamonds and colored stones. If you ever go to the show, good walking shoes are a must and a suitcase full of cash is required.  Be aware that no matter what your budget is, you will want to spend way more than you have with you.  I was like a kid in a candy shop!  It was so much fun and hard work all rolled into one.

One of the cool things about this show is that you get to see gigantic stones specimens and really rare stones that you usually only see in museums.  Not only can you take a goofy picture with them but you can usually touch them as well. I try to take pictures next to some of these stones so you can see it in human scale. There was a huge Amethyst Geode that was low to the ground and it was the size of a double bed.  I tried to get a picture of me sleeping in the geode but they wouldn’t let me crawl inside of it. I think it was a good thing since Amethyst Geodes points are very sharp!

Shungite Pyramid and Bracelets

What is Shungite?

At my first stop at the Tucson Gem Show, a dear friend came up to me and said one word “Shungite.”  I said “what’s that?” Then I went on to discover that it is the newest and the oldest healing stone at the show.

My Russian dealer friend, Vadim showed me how the stone’s very low resistance to energy flow helps it to conduct and filter while energy flows through it. He put an electrical meter to the stone and showed me a super low number to prove how low the electrical resistance was. I brought back a nice variety of Shungite in Pyramids, 10mm bracelets, 12mm bracelets, egg shapes, beads, raw and tumbled stones in a number of different sizes. It is sure to be a very popular stone, so if you like the stone, I would buy some right away.  I will not be able to get more for another year.

Shungite is a 2 billion year old stone found only in Karelia, Russia. Shungite is a rare carbon-based material of organic origin that can provide many benefits to the human body.

This stone contains Fullerene–a recently discovered carbon formation. Astrophyllite

Astrophyllite:

Many people look at the rare and beautiful Astrophyllite and describe seeing a burst of stars or a meteor shower in the complex matrix of the stone. We have a few larger pieces of natural Russian Astrophyllite with bright starbursts as well as Astrophyllite pendants for you to choose from.

Forming in shades of rich coppery bronze, Astrophyllite, although typically found in Russia, has also been found in Greenland, Norway and the U.S.  A stone of happiness and joy, Astrophyllite brings harmony to home and family relationships. It is a great stone for deepening the connection between people, especially on a soul-level. Astrophyllite also protects against negative energy, helps to neutralize radiation and harmful electromagnetic fields (EMFs). Astrophyllite encourages self-awareness and helps one to  realize their unlimited potential.

Fuchsite and Ruby

Fuchsite and Ruby:

Fuchsite, a green mica, on occasion forms in a natural composite with red Ruby.  Found primarily in South India, this stone combines the courage, strength, and passion for which Ruby is known with the calming, nourishing, emotional healing of Fuchsite . A very unusual stone, we have one large Fuchsite/Ruby Point,  hand lathed Fuchsite/Ruby Bowl and a nice assortment of heart shapes.

Fuchsite in combination with Ruby is a great stone for wisdom and developing emotional balance and independence. In challenging times of conflict, it instills inner-confidence, inspiring one to be true to themselves. Fuchsite with Ruby clears negativity and stagnant energy from the body and one’s environment.  Supportive in the healing process, this stone encourages health and well-being while giving one the strength to cast off negative patterns and habits.

In the picture, placed inside the Fuchsite/Ruby bowl is a Natural Star Ruby. Ruby has been cherished throughout the ages. In the Middle Ages, Ruby was believed to resolve disagreements, and aid in healing and removing negative thought patterns. It is an excellent stone for protection from negativity. Ruby is frequently found in Brazil, U.S., India, Thailand, Burma and Sri Lanka. It has been known as the stone of royalty. We just put out some of the largest Star Ruby hand pieces from India that we have ever had in the store as well as some nice palm size Shiva Lingams from the Narmada River region in India.

Malia found Steve Osback from Arizona who specializes in contemporary Southwestern ring designs set with stones such as American Turquoise, Tiger’s Eye, Onyx, Copper, Native Silver, Ruby, Sonoran Sunrise Cuprite, Malachite/Chrysacolla, and even Dinosaur Bone.  They range in price anywhere from $80 to $300.

New Jewelry Designer Discovery

Watermelon Tourmaline set in 14k Gold

Not only did we discover some new high energy stones, we also found a few wonderful new jewelry designers too!

Handmade in New York by a company called Tchu Tchu Ka, Brazilian designer Regina Rodrigues Morsi makes one of a kind 14k Gold drop jewelry as pictured to the left. The Watermelon Tourmaline Necklace features gemstone briolettes and watermelon tourmaline slices that can be worn in the evening for a special occasion or during the day with a pretty floral dress.  The Watermelon Tourmaline is paired together with Blue Topaz, for creativity and communication and Peridot for abundance and love. We have a matching pair of Watermelon Tourmaline Earrings that will complete the set! The earrings have beautiful Watermelon Tourmaline as the main stone, but are paired together with the energies of Blue Topaz for clear insight, Citrine for happiness, Garnet for physical strength and passion, Peridot for money and friendship, and Ruby for wisdom and knowledge.

These hand-carved Watermelon Tourmaline Leaf Earrings, are handmade by Malia’s friends Bob and Debbie of Go Jolly in Oregon. The layers of colors in these these lovely earrings are set in 14k Gold so that they can be paired with ensembles of many different colors. February’s Birthstone: Amethyst

Amethyst Chandelier Necklaces and Earrings

February’s main Birthstone is Amethyst–an excellent stone for relaxation, meditation and restful sleep. Thai designer Piromaya from Oregon is another new designer we found in Tucson.  She hand makes beautiful Sterling Silver Chandelier style earrings and jewel drop necklaces.  She has a great eye for putting together juicy colors.  Some of the necklace and earrings come in sets, or you can mix and match individual pieces.

Pictured to the right is our Amethyst Drop Necklace that would pair well with formal Prom or Mother’s Day dresses. You can choose either the Amethyst Drop Earrings or the Paraiba Quartz and Amethyst Earrings to complete the look.
