Quartz or Quartzite with scale, platelet, flake or fleck inclusions of Hematite (Iron Oxide) or Goethite that give it its color— look for these identifying flecks or granularity of the stone depending on how densely included it may be

The natural stone, is named after the man-made Avventurina (from all’avventura, meaning “by chance” in Italian) or Aventurine Glass (Goldstone), which it is thought to closely resemble in appearance— though not in color
May be dyed to achieve bright, (unnatural) saturated colors
