This doublet is a thin slice of Gilson Created Opal set with a rough piece of natural Quartz Crystal to enhance the appearance of the fire within the opal.
Gilson Created Opal is grown under ideal conditions using a process considered to be the closest to the way opals are formed in nature. Natural Opals (SiO2·nH2O) are composed of the same substance as Quartz Crystal / Silica (SiO2 ) differing only by the growth structure and water content. Gilson Opals are grown from pure silica with no water content.
Energetically, Gilson Created Opal is similar to Clear Quartz Crystal.
