Welcome to the first Sedona Podcast! During our inaugural show you will get to meet Malia Johnson, co-creator and owner for the past 28 years of Sedona in Ward Village, located across from the beautiful Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. The show’s hosts are Helen Stewart and Darrell Harada: you will find out more about them in future podcasts!
Malia Johnson, Honolulu native, became an international buyer in the fashion industry on Madison Avenue in New York. Eventually, she managed sixteen stores for a Japanese fashion accessories company there before returning to Honolulu and opening a “rock shop,” originally in Pearl Ridge and later in Ward Centre. So much of what she learned in New York working for other people came in handy when she ventured out on her own as an entrepreneur. Sedona is much more than a rock shop now: some of its products and services include spiritual tools, fashion accessories, individual and group sessions with psychic readers, beads, gemstones, classes and books. It truly is “a unique place to find yourself.”
This podcast focuses on Malia’s personal story. Her deep and authentic commitment to holding a space for her customers to discover and be themselves shines through in every moment of our conversation with her and it is clear she has taken that inner journey herself. She brims with modesty and wisdom and humor as well as knowledge; she is in touch with the importance of her own intuition; and she offers great practical stories about the adventures of being an entrepreneur on every level: Malia gets things done without sacrificing her integrity!
