This sampler set from Full Moon Farms contains: Desert Sage, Cedar, White Sage, Yerba Santa, Sweetgrass, and Palo Santo

Desert Sage - used in Smoke Cleansing: classic smudging sage, to purify, clear, and cleanse.  It has an herbaceous, sometimes “peppery” scent.

Cedar - revered by people all over the world for hundreds of years, known for its strength and endurance due to its long roots.  Cedar is often used in House Blessing Ceremonies to bring in stability and good influences.  We suggest burning it after the sage or palo santo to fill the now cleared space with the energy of strength and stability.

White Sage - used in Smoke Cleansing: more leafy with a slightly sweeter scent when burned to purify, clear, and cleanse.  Easily used in bundles or loose.

Yerba Santa - this “Holy Herb” or “Sacred Herb”, known for its many medicinal properties is burned not only to purify, but also to raise the spiritual vibration, to create boundaries, and to protect.

Sweetgrass - a sacred herb which when burned helps to call in beauty, harmony and “sweet” positive energy - frequently used after burning sage or palo santo to fill the now cleared space with positive intentions.  Often used before prayers or ceremonies to invite "good spirits", and to strengthen the ties of a group or community.

Palo Santo - this “Holy Wood” is native to South America and was frequently used instead of sage for purifying, cleansing, and in healing work.

Smudging vs Smoke Cleansing

Smudging is the ritual practice sacred to Native American traditions.  It is a time-honored and long-fought for tradition steeped in cultural spiritual belief and history.

Smoke Cleansing is the general practice used by many cultures across the world, of symbolically burning plants, herbs, or resins for the purpose of purifying, cleansing and blessing sacred spaces, homes, businesses, implements or people.

When lit, the smoke of the burning sage helps to carry away negative energies.
