Additional Information:

• A form of Chalcedony, primarily from the Mamuju area near the western coast of Sulawesi, an island of Indonesia
• The shape this mineral grows in is called Botryoidal from Ancient Greek βότρυς bótrus, meaning “cluster of grapes”

The rainbow surfacing process is done in the United States: 
Natural Botryoidal Agate pieces are infused under high heat with Silica (SiO₂) - the same mineral that forms Quartz Crystal.  Unlike the many Aura Quartz varieties available (Aqua Aura, Tanzine Aura, Radiant Rose Aura, etc.), the rainbow luster in Unicorn Poop is due to thin-film interference of a passivation layer of silicon dioxide on the surface of the stone.  This thin layer scatters the light hitting it, into the rainbow iridescence that we see. 

So, instead of just a thin surface coating of a metallic colored film like in Aura Quartz, Unicorn Poop has a layer of granulated, sugar-like crystalline surfacing that bends the light in a rainbow effect like the layered microscopic prismatic scales on the wings of a butterfly or like millions of water droplets that sunlight bounces through to form a rainbow.

Caution: Avoid anything abrasive. Water exposure may cause stone to change color or break down over time. No ultrasonic cleaners - will damage stone.
