Additional Information:

• Discovered in Northern Central Arizona, near Meteor Crater, the site for this meteor impact is believed to be about 49,000 years old
• Named for nearby Canyon Diablo or “Devil Canyon” (the Spanish translation for the Native American name) which lies 3 to 4 miles west of the crater; these meteorites where considered sacred and treasured by the pre-historic Native Americans of the area
• A coarse iron octahedrite composed primarily of nickel-iron with graphite, sulfide nodules, and carbonados (minute black diamonds)
