• Morion is an opaque very dark brown to black variety of Smoky Quartz
• Cairngorm (kayrn gor-uhm), a yellow-brown variety is the national gem of Scotland; it was believed to be sacred to the Druids, a stone which held the power of the ancient Earth Gods within
• Also erroneously sold as Smoky Topaz
• In the 12th century, the Chinese cleverly used this stone for making sunglasses
• Smoky Quartz is properly spelled without the "e" - as opposed to the popular name (as in Smokey Robinson, or Smokey the Bear)
